The Turkmen long-eared bat (Plecotus turkmenicus) has been recorded for the first time in Uzbekistan, in the "Southern Ustyurt" National Nature Park. The discovery was made during an expedition under the One Health in Nature Conservation project, implemented by IUCN with funding from Germany's International Climate Initiative (IKI). In 2025, researchers from Germany, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, led by the Berlin Museum of Natural History, recorded the species in the Karakum Desert near the Uzbek border, suggesting it might also inhabit Uzbekistan.
