Through cooperation between the Center of Islamic Civilization and the University of Journalism and Mass Communications of Uzbekistan, a dual education pathway has been launched aimed at training students directly in the working process. Within the framework of this cooperation, special attention will be paid to developing the professional skills of future journalists and training journalist-guides.
On September 30, 2026, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at a meeting with educators, emphasized the importance of developing dual education in higher education institutions and strengthening cooperation between universities and employers. The principle put forward by the head of state — 'enterprise – university – target personnel' — is aimed at combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
The meeting organized within the framework of this initiative was attended by the head of the Center of Islamic Civilization Firdavs Abdukhalikov, the rector of the University of Journalism and Mass Communications of Uzbekistan Sherzodkhon Kudratkhodja, faculty members, and students. The participants discussed reinforcing students' knowledge through practical activities and highlighting the Center's scientific and educational heritage through modern media tools.
Firdavs Abdukhalikov noted the importance of combining education and practice, enhancing the professional potential of young people, and promoting national heritage through modern media. According to him, foreign experts are also planned to be involved for students. This will give them the opportunity to become familiar with international experience and study advanced approaches in the media sphere.
The head of the Center also emphasized the importance of journalists' professional mastery in conveying historical and scientific heritage to an international audience. In his view, it is necessary not merely to transmit information, but, relying on reliable sources, to reveal the content of historical events and phenomena in a form understandable to various audiences.
At the meeting, special attention was also paid to the issue of training journalist-guides. Given that the Center is visited by scholars, researchers, journalists, and tourists from different countries, future specialists must possess skills such as historical knowledge, journalistic craftsmanship, communication culture, and knowledge of foreign languages.
The university rector Sherzodkhon Kudratkhodja also emphasized that dual education is of great importance in improving the professional training of future journalists. According to him, a modern journalist, in addition to writing texts, is also required to analyze data, verify facts, prepare content in various formats, and communicate effectively with the audience.
The rector reported that cooperation with the Center will give students the opportunity to prepare materials on topics of history, science, culture, and spiritual heritage, conduct interviews, and create reports. He also assessed the initiative of training journalist-guides as one of the promising directions.
The cooperation is expected to help introduce students into a real professional environment, increase their practical experience, and convey the rich scientific and educational heritage of the Center of Islamic Civilization to a wider audience through modern media formats.
