A new night train in Germany linking Hamburg and Munich is set to launch on 23 March 2027.
ADVERTISEMENT ADVERTISEMENTBerlin-based Nox Mobility says its first service will run three times a week in each direction, with stops in Bremen and Augsburg.
With a new generation of night trains designed to make overnight rail “the most obvious alternative” to short-haul flights, Nox Mobility previously revealed that it plans connections between 100 European cities by 2035.
Its proposed network includes Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Warsaw, Budapest and Rome.
What will the new night train offer?
Passengers will travel in individual “Nox Suites”, each featuring a large seat, a table for working or eating, space for large luggage and power outlets.
At night, the seat unfolds into a lounge position, providing two metres of space to stretch out alongside the window.
However, travellers expecting the fully private bedrooms outlined in Nox’s original plans will have to wait. Its “Nox Rooms”, designed for one or two people, are scheduled to join the fleet from 2029.
As Euronews Travel reported in June 2025, the company initially envisaged launching in 2027 with private sleeping cabins. The latest announcement sets out a phased introduction, starting with the seat-based suites.
“With Nox, every passenger has their own space to work and rest in,” said Thibault Constant, Co-Founder of Nox Mobility. “A night on a Nox train should eventually bring together everything that used to take three bookings: getting there, staying the night and the morning at the destination.”
What time will the trains depart?
One-way fares start at €65. Southbound trains scheduled to leave Hamburg at 9:22 pm, calling at Bremen at 10:30 pm and Augsburg at 7:35 am before reaching Munich at 8:14 am.
In the opposite direction, departures from Munich are planned for 9:20 pm, stopping in Augsburg at 9:51 pm and Bremen at 7:20 am, with arrival in Hamburg at 8:27 am.
