In Uzbekistan, violations of competition rules in government procurement worth about 10 billion soums were identified.

This was reported by the Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights.

Violations were found in seven organizations in the Andijan, Fergana, Jizzakh, Namangan, Navoi and Samarkand regions. In particular, these involve procurement by district road and medical institutions, a boarding school for children with hearing impairments, forestry and other organizations.

According to the committee, during tenders and the selection of the best offers, the requirements of Article 29 of the Law 'On Competition' were not observed. Actions restricting or capable of restricting competition were committed.

Cases were opened against the customer organizations and enforcement measures were taken. They were issued mandatory orders to eliminate the violations. In some cases, the materials were sent to the relevant authorities to decide on financial fines and legal assessment.
