A verdict was handed down to the person who stabbed the renowned wrestler Nizomiddin Cho'tboyev in Denov district. Kun.uz reviewed the court document.

According to the court verdict, Doston Jabborov, born in 1997, had previously been convicted twice for hooliganism and intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm.

On May 9, 2026, Doston Jabborov went to watch a national kurash (wrestling) competition held in the Yangiariq neighborhood of Denov district. At the competition, his brother Bostanbek Jabborov faced Ayubkhon Khurramov, the son of wrestler Nizomiddin Cho'tboyev, on the mat.

Bostanbek Jabborov lost the match. Enraged by this, Doston Jabborov left the venue. On the way, he heard from a taxi driver that his father Asl Khudoyqulov and Nizomiddin Cho'tboyev had gotten into a scuffle at the wrestling area. Furious at this, Doston Jabborov turned back and returned to the venue.

He took a kitchen knife from inside a nearby grocery store and went to the wrestling area. There, he stabbed Nizomiddin Cho'tboyev four times in front of his children.

The wrestler was severely injured and died in the hospital.

Doston Jabborov pleaded guilty in court. He said he did not remember how many times he stabbed the wrestler, claimed it all happened in a fit of rage, and asked the court for leniency.

"I cannot remember how many times I stabbed him. At that moment, no one could come near me; everyone stood about 2 meters away, too afraid to approach. I was in a great rage. Then I dropped the knife and, to distance myself, pushed Nizomiddin Cho'tboyev once. He raised his face and struck my left cheek with his head. Stunned by the blow, I walked quickly backward and fled from him", Doston Jabborov said in his testimony.

In court, Ayubkhon Khurramov said his father Nizomiddin Cho'tboyev was stabbed in front of him and that this caused him great anguish. He asked the court to sentence the defendant to life imprisonment.

By the verdict of the JIB Qumqo'rg'on district court, Doston Jabborov was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 2, subparagraphs "j, l" of Article 97 of the Criminal Code (intentional murder). He was sentenced to 19 years of imprisonment. The sentence is to be served in a general-regime colony.
