As it turned out, in the first half of 2026, 5,422 people left Uzbekistan for foreign countries for permanent residence.

At first glance, this figure may lead to an alarming conclusion - people are leaving the country. However, one of the most important rules in sociological analysis is not to interpret a single-year indicator outside of context.

According to the National Statistics Committee, this indicator is 129 people, or 2.3%, lower than for the same period of 2025. In January - June 2023, 9,004 people left for permanent residence abroad, and in the first half of 2024 this indicator was 5,066 people. Thus, the 2026 indicator is almost 40% lower than the 2023 level and slightly higher than the 2024 figure.
