In Uzbekistan, conscripts may have their service shortened by a month for reading books
In Uzbekistan, a draft law has been adopted in its first reading that would shorten compulsory military service by one month for conscripts who achieve high results in a republican book-reading competition. The measure aims to popularize reading among military personnel. The draft also creates legal grounds for new contracts with graduates of Uzbek and foreign military universities specializing in pilot training.
